FREEDOM KIDS
SUPPORT GROUP
This Youth Arm of Freedom Survivors Support Group, came about to cater to the younger children diagnosed with cancer and sickle cell diseases.
Freedom Survivors targeted adolescents and young adults, while Freedom Kids caters to children ranging in age from 2-17 years of age.
Diversity and access are very important to this support group, which is geared towards educating children affected by these diseases with healthy lifestyles choices and the importance of physical activity, participation of the parents about medical management and how to cope with a child that have a long-term illness.
Freedom Kids Support Group provides ongoing and practical hands-on support that allows children to come together quarterly on a Saturday for fun, games and laughter. Each quarter, Freedom Kids hosts one social event; Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Bash, Back-to-School and ending the year with the annual Christmas Party which brings much joy to the hearts and faces of the children.
Spearhead by a Committee of dedicated individuals along with assistance from devoted Volunteers, who liaises with the Cancer Society of The Bahamas in organizing meetings, events and activities to encourage the children during their fight with the various diseases.
