A home away from home. A place of comfort for those who need it so badly and for their loved ones who want to make treatment as painless as possible.
The Cancer Society of The Bahamas has, with the help of a team of professionals who have volunteered their time and services, launched a campaign to build, open and operate the Cancer Caring Centre.
Convenient Location
The three storey building is located adjacent to the present Cancer Society Headquarters just off Collins Avenue, close to doctors and hospitals. The building houses 10 rooms, each with a patio and garden view. The second floor rooms are reserved for Family Island patients staying in Nassau for short-term treatment. Residents will be encouraged to participate in simple activities such as gardening or preparing meals, to stay active and maintain their self-esteem.
Staff and Volunteers
Full-time staff include an administrator, care givers and security. A doctor is also available on call. A network of volunteers serve to enrich the patients' lives and make their stay as pleasant a possible by:
-visiting patients
-leading daily exercise classes
-giving talks on nutrition
-providing transportation
-helping arrange home visits
-assisting in a thousand and one ways that add up to a million smiles
Imagine if you or a loved one had cancer - What a difference a Cancer Caring Centre could make!
