Born and raised in Nassau, Dr. Williamson Chea earned his Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and went on to do Medicine at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. He completed residency in General Surgery at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Canada.

Having recently served as Chief of Surgery at the Princess Margaret Hospital, he is currently a Consultant General Surgeon there as well as at Doctors Hospital. He also devotes time teaching medical students and residents as an Associate Lecturer with UWI School of Clinical Medicine and Research in Nassau.

He has been the President of the Cancer Society of the Bahamas since March 2017 after having served as Vice President for 2 years. As an avid gardener, he has been active in HaLT, the Healthy Lifestyles Team of the Cancer Society, promoting healthy diets and backyard gardening in The Bahamas, especially to schoolchildren.

He is happily married to Dr. Christine Chin and is the proud father of 3 college graduates.
